The gap

The ultrasound is in the room. Confidence at the probe is harder to come by.

Ultrasound skills take time to build and regular practice to keep. When a scan is indicated and no one on the team can do it, it can go one of three ways.

YOUR PRACTICE STANDBY Referred out The patient travels for the scan. Booked for later The scan waits for an outside sonographer. Swapped for another test The scan doesn't happen.
  1. Referred out

The patient travels for the scan.

  2. Booked for later

The scan waits for an outside sonographer.

  3. Swapped for another test

    The scan doesn't happen.

What's at stake

What leaves with the scan.

Sending a scan out costs more than the scan.

Area Sent out In-house

Quality of care

Sent outThe patient waits for a referral or a booked sonographer, and the answer comes later.

In-houseThe exam can happen in the visit, while the patient is still in front of you.

Client experience

Sent outThe client travels to another hospital, often for a single test.

In-houseThe client stays with the team they already know and trust.

The practice

Sent outThe case, the client relationship and the income move elsewhere, and clients can come to see the practice as less capable than it is.

In-houseThe care, the relationship and the business that comes with it stay in your practice.

The usual fixes

Each one depends on an expert's time.

  1. Train in-house.

Ultrasound skill takes time and regular practice to build, and it can leave with the person.

    Needs: a trainer's time

  2. Book a mobile sonographer.

The scan happens when their schedule allows.

    Needs: a sonographer's time

  3. Remote expert guidance.

A specialist coaches the scan live, when one is available.

    Needs: a specialist on call

ProbeAI puts guidance on the screen, at the moment of the scan.

How it works

One step at a time, on the live image.

ProbeAI guides your clinical team through the probe movements and techniques needed to capture the right views for an ultrasound exam.

  1. Place

The screen shows where to start on the patient, how to hold the probe, and the target view.

  2. Adjust

One cue at a time: slide, rock, fan or rotate, with an arrow that moves as you do.

    • slide
    • rock
    • fan
    • rotate
  3. Confirm

The screen shows when the image holds the view the protocol needs.

  4. Capture

Hold steady. The view is captured and ticked off the checklist.
